KIFC TEAM VISITED FORESTRY VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN KADIPATEN

 

  On 28th May 2015, KIFC Team, consisting of Mr. Oh Key-pyo, Mr. Sugeng Marsudiarto, Ms. Lee Young Ju and Mr. Lee Ui June visited Forestry Vocational School in Kadipaten – West Java.  Kadipaten is a small town, in the Majalengka Regency, West Jawa about 200 Km from Jakarta.  It takes about 5 – 6 hours driving from Jakarta in normal condition of the traffic.

  The objective of the visit was to evaluate the implementation of the small grant project from the Korean Government on Development of Laboratory Scale Wood Pellet Production Machineries that has been finished in 2013, and also to explore the possibilities of developing new projects to support teaching and learning process in the school.

 
  The KIFC Team was welcomed by the Headmaster of the school, Mr Dimyati.   He explained about the school and his ideas for the development of the school.  He mentioned that the Forestry Vocational School in Kadipaten, established in 2008,  is one of the five Forestry Vocational Schools in Indonesia that is expected to be a model for Forestry Vocational Schools. It has 315 students and 21 teachers, with 10 class rooms.  The graduates of the school are expected to fill the needs of middle level forestry technician in forestry sector.  The Ministry of Environment and Forestry has target to establish 600 Forest Management Unit throughout Indonesia until the year 2019. The School will be able to play a major role in providing middle level forestry technicians.  It has been recognized that the graduates from Forestry Vocational Schools who have been working at some Forest Management Units have very good performance, diligent and tough.  This is as a result of educational method implemented in the school that support to develop a  high discipline and high willingness to learn.

  The Headmaster also mentioned that to improve the quality of teaching and learning process, the school is now still some equipment both field equipment for supporting practice activities and laboratory facilities.  The equipments would also be used for competence assessment for the students.  To meet this need, the Headmaster mentioned that the budget would be from the Government of Indonesia and also could be from international grant project.
